HK Institute of Islamic Studies

Mission

The Institute builds knowledge through education, provides advisory support for corporate responsibility, conducts research addressing industry challenges and hosts forums for professional dialogue and policy debate. Consulting spans feasibility studies for Islamic financial institutions, conversion strategies from conventional to Islamic banking, Shariah board establishment and oversight, Shariah audit and product validation.

Courses

The Islamic Banking & Finance Training Course targets professionals, academics and regulators seeking a practical understanding of the nature and form of Islamic law, finance and banking. Public sessions in Hong Kong are limited to 55 seats; in-house customised training is available for groups, and distance-learning is offered globally with tutor guidance in English.

• Route One — structured courses of one to five days;
• Route Two — flexible module selection building a customised program.

Modules are 90-minute sessions with end-of-module assessments, designed stand-alone yet sequential, emphasising case studies, practical exercises and real-world application. Registration: hkis@arabcci.org.

Seminars

Workshops, seminars and forums diffuse and disseminate developments in the Islamic financial system — for fund managers, investment advisors, bankers, regulators, analysts, lawyers, accountants, insurance planners, journalists and academics, from newcomers to seasoned professionals seeking refresher training.

Supporting the Institute

Gifts endow graduate fellowships, academic positions and visiting professorships, advancing scholarship in religious history, Islamic law and Islam's contemporary global role. The Institute also recruits experienced trainers in Islamic banking, insurance and law (five or more years' experience) and hosts on-campus recruitment for students.
